Hydro Green Energy (HGE) is a hydropower development company focused on new, low-impact projects in the U.S. and Latin America. The company maintains headquarters in Westmont, Illinois (USA). In Latin America, HGE’s corporate strategy is to focus on the following areas of hydropower plant (HPP) development:
In Latin America, where numerous, rapidly developing countries are seeing strong growth in energy demand, HGE has begun to explore development activities in several countries. HGE is presently involved in 15 MW of capacity under development.
New High-Head HPPs
HGE actively participates in new, high-head, run-of-river HPP development through all stages of the project. For mature projects with power purchase agreements (PPAs), HGE is able to help developers execute quickly on financing and begin construction and operations.
Rehabilitation of HPPs
HGE and its team of hydropower experts survey sites, provide technical solutions and provide the capital to finance the efficient and cost-effective implementation of HPP rehabilitations, including underperforming projects and abandoned projects.
Low-Head Modular Hydropower Technology
At non-powered dams that have less than 10 meters of head and a high flow, HGE seeks to deploy its prefabricated, patented “plug-and-play,” low-head hydropower solution that minimizes the civil work and the costly, time-consuming installation process of conventional hydropower.
